Is God Still Good When His Answer Is "No"?
I. God is good, so He isn't trivial. (Ja.4:3; Matt. 7:9-11; Mk. 10:35-38).
II. God is good, so He doesn't ignore sin. (Lam. 3:40-44; Ps. 66:17-20; Isa. 59:23; 1:15-16).
God is more interested in making us holy than in making us happy.
III. God is good, so He wants to make me better.
- A. He wants to teach me. (Prov. 1:28-33; 28:9).
- B. He wants to refine me. (Ja. 1:6-8; 4:2-3; Matt. 5:23-24; 6:12-15; I Pet. 3:7).
- C. He wants to grow me.
- 1. Through suffering. (Ja. 1:2-5; Heb. 5:7-8).
- 2. Through service.
IV. God is good, so He fulfills His purposes. (Rom 8:28).
- A. He doesn't violate His nature.
- B. He doesn't abdicate His throne. (Heb. 4:13).
- C. He doesn't fail. (Rev. 17:14; 21:1-3; 22:12-13; 22:20-21).
Do I really trust God enough to pray for His will to be done, and to let Him be God?
